The Sarcastic Sidebar
Links from the Switched on "The Alcohol and drugzzzz Issue" issue
Here are some places on the web that may be interesting. Switched-On makes no claim that any of these people have the remotest idea what they're talking about.
NFIA's guide to drug effects
I get my high from reading about the effects of various drugs. Actually, that's totally nonsensical, but this is a pretty straightforward guide to drugs and their effects. It has a database to search for drug street names so you can find out what your name means in drug.
FreeeeeeeeeeVibe
Freevibe has a ton of information about drugs and alcohol and their use. You can meet the really attractive miss 17 2007, who is apparently very anti-drug. It's not a bad argument for not doing them, I suppose. Those eyes. That skin. I'm sorry, where was I?
A book: For Teenagers Living With a Parent Who Abuses Alcohol/Drugs
All the books out there seem to be about how to talk to a teenager about alcohol and drugs. What about talking to a parent with a problem? This is a great book to help you figure that out. And if it doesn't work, you can reorder the hardcover version and bop them on the head with it.
The truth dot com
It's a drug. Tobacco. It sure is. And truth has a bunch of information about tobacco use and how to talk to your friends about it. Or you could eliminate the middleman and go to http://tobaccodocuments.org/, do a search and find some crazy documents yourself. No one can read them all. You might find something no one has ever seen before.
The National Runaway Switchboard
We're a good place to go to get resources on how to quit or even how to talk to your parents about their own drug use. It's hard to hear people tell you about how you shouldn't do x while they are doing x. We can help you talk about x with your parents. And then we can talk about y. We promise not to talk about z unless you bring it up.
