Links from the Switched on "Breaking up is hard to do" issue
Here are some places on the web that may be interesting. Switched-On makes no claim that any of these people have the remotest idea what they're talking about.
Enotalone breakups and how to survive them
The title of this website creeps me out. E Not Alone. It's like one of those horror films where someone is in the house when they are calling. You're not alone. THE CALL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE-except it's THE WEBSITE IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. You think you are but you are not. You lock your doors, but here comes E. I closed this website and now I'm still not alone. I still feel it there, in my bookmarks, taunting me. Why won't it leave me alone? Some good advice, though, if you can ditch the feeling of being watched.
Breakupgirl
I can't make fun of Breakupgirl. She's my favorite hero. She got her powers when she was dumped by a superhero by the name of Unreliable Man. Plus she comes down hard on the phone breakup- a squirrelly attempt to avoid responsibility for your own actions disguised as a piece of communication. And I have a little crush on Breakupgirl, but that's not going anywhere, is it?
Breakups 101.com
I enjoy this site because it also has bad love poetry, along with breakup advice and tips. Nothing makes you NOT WANT to be in a relationship more than bad love poetry. Love sucks. You know how I know that? Because anything that makes some guy rhyme the words "cry" and "die" twice in the same poem has to automatically suck. In some countries, this is not even legal. Plus, they call breaking up "abandoning". Someone has issues.
The FAQFARM breakup section.
This site is kind of cool. You ask questions and a huge army of online crazy people answer them. I like to think of this as the Quantity over Quality advice site. This is for when you don't necessarily want the right answer, just every answer someone can think of so you can make your decision dart board, put on a blindfold and let the universe figure it out for you.
The National Runaway Switchboard and all you can eat Salad bar.
We came to help people help themselves and serve delicious salad and we are all out of salad. The problem is that not everyone realizes that the sneeze guard is there to protect all of us but especially you, guy who likes to finger the potato salad. Breakups can be big things to deal with. Sometimes you need to talk- to figure out a plan on how to be happy again. That sort of thing is right up our alley. We have time to listen to you. Time, but no Thousand Island.
