Here are some places on the web that may be interesting. Switched-On makes no claim that any of these people have the remotest idea what they're talking about.
TeensPoint.
I love this site for connecting with people and groups for the purposes of great art. The design of the site itself is not great art, but you can’t have everything, as I use to tell the guy who invented Pizza icecream. My favorite though is the poll on the front page today. Who is cooler, Chuck Norris, Vin Diesel, Mr. T., Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan or Wesley Snipes? Man, this is a tough one. It sounds like the list of people who will pound you to putty if you put a camera in their face.
Youth Arts Online
I believe that children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Give them all the loooooove that you have insiiiiiide. La la laaaa laaaa laa la laa. I honestly don’t know the rest of the words. But this site totally agrees with me. This site will help you tackle any art discipline, no matter what you love. And it will NOT SING AT YOU. I, personally hate that. But the poll here rocks, too. Should the voting age be lowered to 16? Yes, No, Don’t know. You know why they’d never do that? Because, unlike 35 year olds, 16 year olds would actually vote.
Teen guide to getting started in the arts
Wow. That’s a url. For anyone who wants to get hooked up in Acting, dancing, painting, Basket throwing, anything really except basket throwing, this is the place for you to look. They break down the skills needed to be an artist in any field and how you can get them. It might even let someone know you’re serious about your art if they happen to see it on your shelf. Or in your hand while you are throwing baskets.
Blast
Art, Dance, Film, Music, Writing. How do I know? It says so in giant letters on the homepage. This is a site put together by the BBC to encourage people to get into the arts and create. It has a ton of really outstanding English things on it, by some truly outstanding English people. And really, are there any other kind of English people?
The National Runaway Switchboard and finger painting clinic
Damn, we are artsy. Imagine this. You wake up at 2:25 in the morning one day and you have the perfect idea in your head. It’s so beautiful that the thought of it just makes you cry. You crawl out of bed and pull yourself toward your art table. Suddenly, the phone rings and it’s gone, all gone. It’s lost forever. You pick up the phone and you know who it is? Well, it’s not us. We can’t call you. We can only sit here and wait for you to call us. Kinda sad actually.
